I've been done here in Hawaii for what seemed like forever, but hadn't gotten a dead bird photo. So as the trip is wrapping up I was stoked to find this zebra dove on a walk. I can now go home happy.

A few of us walked around Powderhorn Lake,
and saw SO many dead things.
Mostly fish.
But we saw this thing floating,
and scooped it out.
I don't know what it is,

Dead Birds on the Coast of Peru

Man, there was a lot of dead stuff on the rocky coast of Peru.

(including a decaying sea lion)
Luckily for the blog, though, there was also a few birds.
This first one took me a while to identify,
since it's mostly just a beak.
(but what a definitive beak it is!)
It's a Kelp Gull,
and you can see photos of live ones here.

Then there was two different brown pelicans.
The ones in Peru don't have that yellow on their head,
as far as I can tell,
and these two were identified
with the help of seeing a ton of live ones on the same beach.

That orange in the first one is just trash, and not feet or anything bird related.
